Milestones and man issues

Jude had her 24 month check up right after her birthday and I'm happy to say she is doing great! 21.6 pounds (finally cracked 20lbs!) and 32 inches. She's definitely on the charts for height and weight.

She's a bit behind in her speech development but I think a contributing factor has been the pacifier. It started out as a comfort item for bed and the car and became a little addiction. I'm more diligent about keeping it out of her mouth and she's more willing to go without it. She's adding words daily.

We had Thanksgiving this year out (no one wanted to cook) and Dennis and Brett joined us. I'm happy to say Jude doesn't have any man issues - in fact she is rather taken with Dennis. They played several games of 52 card pickup at dinner.

I will post pictures from her birthday party as soon as I get my PC and iPad to cooperate.

Ear infections and Mama

This week was Jude's third (yes, 3rd) ear infection in three months. We were at the doctor's twice this week, including a Saturday morning visit. She will be seeing an ENT next week - tubes are likely.

I'm glad to have an answer of sorts to these repetitive fevers, but dreading the solution. I will say, I dislike all the missed work and draining emotions (on both our parts) just as much though.

On the interesting news side, I've officially become 'Mama' to Jude. Crying at the doctor's office and calling from the bedroom, she now cries for Mama. sigh

Today was a good day (knock on wood)

I may be a bit early with my proclamation as it's only 6:30pm.

However, today:

- there were no meltdowns by any member of the house,
- Jude came home from daycare mess free (ish),
- lunch is made for tomorrow,
- dinner has been served, eaten without fuss, and cleaned up,
- Jude's bag is packed for tomorrow,
- the cat used the new litterbox (don't ask),
- its T minus 30 to bath and bed,
- and I've had 6 whole nights of real sleep in a row.

Ahhhhhhh!

For reading my whine-fest without rolling your eyes you get this fab new shot of "Jude bug".

Progress Report

This month we will have our 6 month post placement review for the adoption agency. Lots to report - walking, (some) talking, daycare, and health. Jude has really taken to daycare, so much so that she's picked up nearly every illness that is common to the daycare crowd. Pink eye, strep, thrush, HFM - yuck. And yes, I've gotten to try out quite a few as well.

I've told Jude she has to make it through the entire month of August without getting sick. It's day 11 and so far so good. We've had two whole weekends without one or both of us down with something. Quite nice.

There's been swimming, the Irish Festival, and today we went to a single parent appreciation day held by a local church. Jude got to play while I had a mini massage, health screening, pedicure, and then they washed our car! So nice!

I love Fall so there are many events planned for the coming months. Next up - christening!

The 'Mine' monster

Jude has learned the dreaded word 'mine' and she is getting lots of practice using it.

We went to the super store yesterday and I had to pull out some bribe crackers. She let out a wicked little 'heh heh' , pronounced them 'Mine', and then looked around to make sure everyone understood.

It's been noted by her teachers at daycare that she doesn't share toys (or the teacher) that well. Hey, she's a work in progress!
